Internet speed is decreasing on India
Internet speed is gradually decreasing in India. As a result, India's ranking in the world is gradually declining. According to a recent report by Internet Speed Test giant Ookla, India's internet quality plummeted in March. Last month, India ranked 130th in the world in terms of mobile internet speeds. The situation is better than in the case of fixed broadband. India is ranked 71st in the world, two steps lower than before.
Between January and March, fixed broadband speeds in India declined by an average of 5.5 Mbps. On the other hand, the speed of mobile internet has decreased by 1.6 Mbps during this period. According to Ookla, the speed of fixed broadband in India was 41.48 earlier this year. And in March it dropped to 35.95 Mbps.
The United Arab Emirates tops the world in terms of mobile internet speeds. In March, the average mobile download speed in that country was 63.53 Mbps. On the other hand, Singapore still tops the world in terms of fixed broadband speeds with an average download speed of 198.28 Mbps.
Ookla also explained the reasons for the slowdown in the Internet in India. The CEO of the company said, 'It is normal for the speed of the internet to decrease as the pressure of the users on the network increases. Lockdown is going on in India due to Corona crisis. As a result, the pressure on mobile internet has increased. Naturally, the speed of internet in India is decreasing.
