Search has increased on Google, fear of declining advertising revenue
Google's parent company Alphabet has released its first quarter earnings estimates.
Google has made quite a good profit in the first two months of the year. However, in March the situation continued to worsen. That's why Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai called it a 'story of two quarters'.
Google did not suffer as much from the effects of coronavirus as other organizations. Their income has increased by 13 percent compared to the same quarter last year. Homeless people have relied on Google to get information. So the amount of Google search was more at this time.
Four times more coronavirus information has been sought than in the US entertainment show Super Bowl. People are also spending more time on YouTube, which is owned by Google. Although he did not release any statistics, Sundar Pichai said that the rate of watching live streaming videos on YouTube has increased.
People are spending more time on the app. The app download rate was 30 percent higher in March than in February. Google Play has been used on an average of 250 crore devices every month.
Also, the demand for Chromebooks has increased. Analysts claim that the demand for Chromebooks has increased by 400 percent in the first quarter of this year compared to last year. The number of Chromebook users has increased to 100 million as online education activities are underway.
However, the demand for smartphones has reduced the rate of device activation. A large part of Google's revenue comes from advertising. Ruth Porat, Google's chief financial officer, warned that the coronavirus could affect the advertising business next quarter.
